If you have concerns with your child's developmental skills, please contact us. We begin services at age 3, but referrals can begin 90 days from the child's 3rd birthday. We will begin our process with a screening. The screening is a snapshot of the child's abilities. We check for concerns in the 5 domains of developmental skills: cognition, communication, motor skills (fine motor and gross motor), self-help, and socialization. Once a child has been screened, the results are reviewed with the parent. If areas of concern are noted, the referral process begins. The child is evaluated according to federal and state guidelines. Results of formal evaluations are reviewed by the committee. If a child's results are consistent with criteria for a disability category under IDEA, the committee will discuss options for services. Parental consent is required at all steps in the process. Review Parents Rights Under IDEA for more information.
